PPM is proud to sponsor the Cirencester Slog, in support of Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA). Taking place on Sunday 6th October at the Cirencester Park Estate, the event features a 10-mile mixed terrain trail run, complete with three challenging climbs and an elevation gain of 200 meters. For families and younger adventurers, there will also be a 5km family adventure run, providing fun for participants of all ages.
SARA is a vital volunteer-run search & rescue organisation that operates inshore and inland across the River Severn, its estuary, and the surrounding areas. The charity has been in operation for 50 years and their team of dedicated volunteers provides crucial rescue services around the clock, 365 days a year, often tasked by HM Coastguard, Fire & Rescue, Police, and Ambulance Services.
SARA covers an array of life-saving missions, including land searches for vulnerable people; rope rescues for climbers; and flood support and casualty care in emergency situations. The organisation relies entirely on donations, grants, and fundraising efforts to fund their specialist equipment and operations, which cost approximately £130,000 annually just to maintain. This amount doesn’t account for the necessary replacement of worn or outdated equipment, further highlighting the importance of community events like the Cirencester Slog.
